Angel’s Landing 2013
I am writing a bit out of order (isn’t that what happens when you become a mama: things start to get out of order?!). About a week ago, I posted a “vlog” about how Grief Is Real. We were hiking in Zion National Park and I couldn’t finish the hike; my emotions overwhelmed me and I couldn’t help but share.
I’m all about sharing the dark days of grief, but the day of our hike had many wonderful, happy moments as well. Here are some photos from our journey:
On the bus into the park!
Ready for a hike! It’s so fun watching people realize Keith is wearing a baby; I lost count how many times we heard, “Whoa! There’s a baby on his back!”
Heading up the trail!
Walter’s Wiggles; the famous set of switchbacks.
This boy loves his Auntie Mo! Molly, Keith, and Caleb made up the forward team that charged on ahead while mom and I took up the rear.
Caleb helping Auntie Mo with the bottle.
Caleb was definitely doing most of the work 🙂
Little hiker baby!
Just a few baby selfies.
We can do it! Mom made it all the way to the top, but I hung back because I was feeling dizzy and light headed.
The end of the trail is much like this: climbing hand over foot with only chains to hold on to. Not a good idea when you’re dizzy and light headed!
Leaving a bit of dad at the top of the hike he couldn’t finish. The funeral home gave us these biodegradable boxes to bury his ashes in. He would’ve loved that!
Caleb made it to the top, too!
My little trooper; he loves being in the Ergo carrier!
The view makes the hike worth every switchback worth it! I’m glad that I’ve made it up there once in my life even if I couldn’t make it up twice.
Beautiful cactus flowers while I wait for the rest of the crew to get back to Scout’s Lookout.
A little chipmunk friend.
People going out and back from Scout’s Lookout to Angel’s Landing.
A successful trip!
Seriously, this kid is so much happier when he’s with Auntie Mo!
He’s a little Red Sox fan already 🙂
We forgot to bring a binkie, but a melon did the trick. He even carved out some of the bottom of the melon with his two little teeth. Melon is definitely his new favorite!
The McG family! We have been through so much in the last year, but have so much to smile about!
