I feel like it has been about a year since I’ve written much of anything. It’s really been a bit less than two months, but it’s been a nutty two months! I’m about 6 months behind on editing and sharing photos from our travels and adventures and the note I wrote for Caleb’s 18 month blog post probably will just be an addendum to his two year birthday post.

The long and short of it is we have been to Connecticut and back several times; gone on a long weekend camping trip; been running around, chasing a crazy, fearless almost-two-year-old; and generally enjoying summer in Maryland. I’ve been busy living in the moment instead of trying to capture it; sometimes that’s just what we need, isn’t it?

In June, I hadn’t been feeling well for awhile. I even went to the extreme of taking a pregnancy test, but had no answers. The morning of Father’s Day, Keith got one tremendous gift when we found out that we are expecting a little McNugget in February! Caleb has no concept of what’s about to happen, but we talk about babies often and he loves them. When we ask where the baby is, he goes all around the house looking for a baby with a confused look. I try to tell him there’s a baby in my tummy, but he just points to his tummy and says, “belly button”. He’s in for a pretty big shock.

Now that life seems to be falling back to some sort of normal rhythm, I’m looking forward to sharing more about the adventures and visitors we’ve had since February!

Congratulations, this is so exciting! If having a baby changes everything, a second changes everything all over again. Wyatt was much younger when we started talking about “the baby”, but in the last 3 months he really got the concept, pointing at my belly and saying “baby”- a big bump helps, for sure. Enjoy your special one-on-one time with your little guy, this is such a beautiful time.
