Spiritual Direction
Just you and me and a safe place to be honest about the difficult, painful things you're facing in life right now and gentle, creative ways to navigate them.
what is spiritual direction?
having a companion who is committed to helping you explore your spiritual life
A spiritual director is trained in deep listening and is committed to walking along side you as you share what you're feeling, thinking, and experiencing. I'm here to be a guide, like a midwife or doula, to help you to slow down in order to reflect, discover, and experience ways in which you are seeking connection with yourself, those around you, the world at large, and the Divine (whether you call that God, the Universe, or any other name). A spiritual director is not a teacher, but a listener and a witness, here to support you as you navigate life.
Spiritual direction is not a replacement for therapy or counseling.
who is spiritual direction for?
Any one who wants to explore their inner selves more deeply
If you've ever wondered who you are, deep down at your core, or wanted to learn to be more reflective, spiritual direction is a good place to start. You may be looking for insight, new perspectives, or a deeper understanding of yourself, the world, or the divine. You're open to sharing what's going on in your heart, mind, and spirit and willing to share your story, doubts, and hopes. If you're looking for a companion to listen and walk with you as you approach life and suffering with curiosity, spiritual direction may be helpful.
There are no requirements to participating in spiritual direction other than being open to vulnerability and honesty.
Benefits of Spiritual Direction
You are unique with your own goals, hopes, and struggles. But here's a taste of what you might discover:

establish new ways to feel grounded
Grief, mental illness, and major changes in life can leave us feeling like we might float away. I'll help you find and practice new ways of helping your mind, heart, and body feel grounded and secure even if life feels out of control.

find new spiritual practices
It is normal for your spiritual life to change and grow throughout your life. I'll help you explore new ways of practicing your faith that honor what you need and believe right now with no pressure to be certain about any of it.

explore how your faith is evolving
A healthy faith is one that shifts as you experience life and increase in empathy and understanding of the world, but that doesn't mean it isn't scary or overwhelming when what you believe changes. I'll help you learn to be gentle with yourself and discover the new and beautiful aspects of your faith.
